A beautiful balance between holding on and letting go is what is required in a game like Kabaddi. Gurukula Public School Vakwady hosted AICS Inter School Kabaddi Tournament -" Akhada 2023, the roar for the victory” on 18th December 2023 at the Gurukula Ground.
15 schools were participated in the tournament. There were four categories i.e, Under 14 Boys and Girls , Under 17 Boys and Girls .
Mr. H Nagaraj Shetty, President SR Group of Educational Institutions Hebri was the chief guest of the event. Sri. K Subhashchandra Shetty, the Joint Managing Trustee Bhandya Educational Trust (R) Kundapura was the president of the event. The Chief Guest and the Joint Managing Trustees were escorted to the stage by Mr. Mohan K, the Principal of Gurukula Public school along with the traditional band. To seek the blessings of the God the teachers sang the prayer.
Mr. Mohan K, the Principal of Gurukula Public school welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Mr. Subhashchandra Shetty, the joint managing trustee gave a floral welcome to the chief guest. Every small to big celebrations are incomplete without the divine blessings and to invoke the blessings of divine power lightening of the ceremonial lamp was done by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest Mr. Nagaraj Shetty addressed the gathering, motivated the students and advised them to learn from the mistakes and improve upon in the future. Mr. Subhashchandra Shetty made presidential speech and wished for the success of the event. He had handed over the momento to the chief guest as a token of love and gratitude. Ms. Sandhya, TGT thanked everyone for their direct and indirect support in conducting the event. The Principal Mr. Mohan K escorted the dignitaries to the ground. The dignitaries performed a sacred ritual and officially began the tournament. The competition started off with a spirit of enthusiasm and each participating team was highly motivated and air was filled with the whistling and clapping by the spectators. The valedictory ceremony began at 4 pm . Mr. Aroor Thimmappa Shetty , Convenor Udupi District Amachur Kabaddi Association and Mr. K. C Rajesh, Second In Command Udupi District Home Guard ware the chief guests of the programme. Mrs. Anupama S Shetty, the joint managing trustee Bhandya Educational Trust (R) Kundapura was the president of the programme. Ms. Sakshitha, TGT welcomed everyone. Mrs. Shri Vidhya , the coordinator of Preparatory Stage announced the results and the chief guests awarded the prizes and congratulated the winners.
Mr. Aroor Thimmappa Shetty addressed the gathering and advised the students to respect the country, respect the soldier and respect the farmers. He told Kabaddi is not just a game it is life . All should take it seriously and get trained well to represent our country in future.Mr. Subhashchandra Shetty gave the momento to Aroor Thimmappa Shetty as a token of gratitude. Mrs. Sowmya TGT thanked the management for hosting the event in a systematic manner, all the schools who have participated, the referees, students, coaches, physical education teachers Mr. Shashikant and Ms. Deepthi, teaching and non teaching staff for making the tournament a grand success. Mrs. Sujatha Kiran Shetty TGT and Mrs. Lona D' Souza PGT were the masters of the ceremony.The tournament was concluded with the national anthem.
